I Ride: Kawasaki ZX6-R (2000)
I mostly ride on my own that way I can stick to speeds I want to go, take the roads I like and stop where I want to stop. Saying that I do enjoy a good chat with other bikers when I do stop and occasionally meet up with others to ride to local bike meets.

I used to prefer to ride with friends but as I mature I more and more prefer to ride alone. Riding within a group, the speed always seems to go past legal parameters. I'm not young anymore so the thought of police chases and reckless antics are not as exciting or appealing as they used to be.

I also find myself riding my sport bikes on the street less. I now tend to ride my cruiser more often. I'm learning how to just enjoy the ride without trying to break the sound barrier. A lot of people told me after I started riding track, I would lose interest in racing in the streets and I can confirm they were accurate.

Yes, it's my form of meditation. But I still ride with friends when I get a chance.

Lots of great feed back I'm in my 30's now and just got back into riding after a few yrs off, the times I've been out alone I do enjoy myself but when I went out with another biker I just had a massive smile on my face and when we stopped off for a light beer and chat it was a totally different experience, I'm not saying we where 100mph every sec but it just felt like a much more enjoyable ride

That sounds like fun. I am looking forward to eventually going on a ride out. I do try and talk about my ride to the Mrs. when I have a good one, but I realise about half way through shes not that interested and doesn't understand what im talking about! lol. I may even be able to make it over to that café you mentioned at some point. its about 1hr 20min drive from mine (sat nav estimate for a car).

Nice! Must be awesome for you both to be into your bikes like that. Can you keep up with your missus?

Looks like there's a few Kent guys here on this one so have a good summer and maybe i'll see ya around if summer hasn't already finished and was only the 2 weeks just past.

I'm a bit surprised to hear so many prefer solo outings here!
I thought it was just me although I always see a lot of guys out on their own.
Fairly agreed that from when I have gone out in groups I've found there's a fair bit of crazyness going on the roads.
Nobody's really bad, I would say it's more that S/E UK isn't very good for group riding having terrible road conditions, always being congested and having lots of really slow old drivers going >20mph under limit on motorways and rural/non residential areas with thin roads with short visibility!
The politeness over road rules is also a worry, drivers here like to stop on main roads or anywhere like blind corners to let waiting traffic out.

So I think it's more to do that riding conditions don't suit any size of group riding.

So as a result I go solo - at 4, 5 am when there's a bit of light with both the car and bike to avoid traffic and then the problem then is early morning rabbits and birds on the road. We don't get a break here! the rest of the time it's raining. hahaha Late summer evenings can be ok time also.

The main bunch of guys I bike with are all doing less road riding now and just do a few track outings a year- 15 of us went to Aragon last month and a smaller group are going Portimao in September. Most live over OP way so last year we went on a ride to Loomies cafe and then headed down to Sammy Millers museum, well worth the visit.
I was in the car for that one because was still damaged from my bike crash in Belgium.
I still get out during the day because I have to! I went to Rye on the weekend on my own - it's similar to Loomies as there will be a load of all types of bikes there at any weekend and the roads between Folkestone-Ashford-Rye-Hastings can be fun. Dunno about stopping off for a beer though!

I have lots of friends. Many with bikes. I've ridden with groups from 2 to 200. Anything more than 5 or so is too many. But I ride alone most of the time and like it fine. It has nothing to do with socialization.

Yeah that will be good. just to let you know, im probably an extra slow 'slug' as the guys on here would put it. Still getting used to the bike and never rode with anyone before, so you might end up losing me? Very up for a ride out though. Also don't know my way around very well in Kent at the moment as ive only just moved here, but did find a nice road the other day going from Faversham up to Whitstable along the coast

I'm happy to meet up with you fella, loomies cafe in Alton is a great biker cafe but also happy to come closer to you if it suits?

Sunday's are normally a good day for a ride out to places, where abouts in Kent are you? I will look about see what's near,

No one is a slow slug you ride how you like we ride how we like and we all end up at same location lol

Cool. I'm no power ranger racing wannabe so don't worry.
