You'd get pulled over by the cops if the op rode like that in Britain. Filtering too fast, unsignalled lane changes, way too close to cars that aren't expecting a bike to appear. The closer the traffic, the more people concentrate ion what's in front of them, not their mirrors.
You can filter (lane split) in slow moving/queuing traffic but not above, say, 20mph.
