Could have been a lot worse, ATGATT.

Helmets aren't cheap compared physical therapy or caskets they are inexpensive.
Totally agree. Super thankful I was wearing a good helmet. I definitely won't be skimping in that department. After a little poking around, the RF1200 seems like a pretty good one?

It sure is. I wear one and wouldn't trust my head to anything but the RF1200 or the X12. That's Shoei at least - AGV or arai are other contenders.

Out of my Shoei and my AGV.... I've liked my AGV more. Try both on and see whatcha like. Can't go wrong with the RF1200 or X12. Can't go wrong with the Pista AGV line... Bell Star is good, Arai Corsair, even the HJC's are pretty nice. You know what to look for. You made a good choice on the last one so I'd start with Shoei and see how it takes from there. Like I said above... I bet they'd want to hear about it. Maybe even kick you a 10% off deal or somethin'

Thanks dude, I'm glad too. That's a good idea, maybe they'll even give me a small discount on my next helmet haha.

Side note...has anyone here had swingarm damage after a crash? The left spool was bent up which dented the side of the swingarm pretty good. I spun the wheel and looked at it closely and it looks straight as far as I can tell but am thinking about replacing it to be on the safe side...

It is quite common for our bikes to bend the tab where the spool threads in. Mine is still bent but I had the bike laser measured and it is straight as an arrow. It is just a weak point in the design.

Thanks for the reply Pslo. That makes me feel like it's probably fine. I'd like to find some place that can laser measure my bike where I live though to be sure.

gerry @ gpframe and wheel just massaged my 13 zx6r.
http://www.gpframeandwheel.com/

my swingarm was all wacko but all straight now!

ive had a broken swingarm spool on a 08gsxr 1000 before that snapped off but was able to have gerry fix/welded and threaded another one on

heal up quick!

Thanks! You have any pictures of what the swingarm looked like before you got it fixed?

Thanks Cody, and thank you to everyone else for all of the very kind words.

Side note...I couldn't have asked for a more supportive lady. She's stayed up super late to be with me in the ER and has even helped me find parts I need.

the bike/swingarm looked fairly ok,

bike was downed and looked over by his friend who gave it the ok, he rode it as it was for awhile, then i bought it - the front end looked all whacko to me and sent it in to get measured

the front end was all off, but the swingarm measurements were .3 or 3 something off the rear axle either in degrees or another measurement value, regardless it was the major thing gerry was discussing with me, like it was a really severe thing.

was fairly surprised how bad the bike measured out to be, the bike had its plastics replaced and no visible damage to its swingarm that would indicate it to be misaligned.

Definitely have some peace of mind going down the main straight now that its measured straight

If you need to replace your master cylinder doing what I did..figured out how much brake is recommended.. Get some clear tubing that fits over the top bleed valve.. Take the ID and multiply it by 3.14.. That will give you the length needed..
