You can feed from the +ve terminal (with inline fuse) into an automotive relay that is triggered by a feed from a low voltage accessory such as the numberplate light.
Doing this will make sure that the grips will be turned off when your ignition is off, so the battery wont go flat when you leave the grips on.
Choose your trigger for the relay carefully, I was going to use my tail light as I ride with lights on through the winter. If you use something like the horn the grips will only work when your horn is blaring :s
