nah if he's set the speedohealer up right the it should take it out, and there is absolutely no way his 636 will do 176mph actual with just a can and a filter.

my top speed on my 06 636 was 174 indicated, which minus 5% is roughly 165, but in reality its closer to a 10% inaccuracy.

Right, good example here, so add in the wind resistance at those speeds (and add back some hp for the ram air effect that's lost on a dyno), then factor in the fact that most bikes have their peak hp well before redline (and it usually drops off afterwards) and honestly, with 2k revs to go, this was probably at the hp peak or close to it and that bike isn't gonna go any faster out on the road in real conditions. So I'd say 160 is pretty close to max speed for these bikes in stock or close to stock trim. A true 176 is just hard to believe. I'd tell my friend to get a GPS device for speed tracking and then we'll talk. Maybe downhill with a 20 mph tailwind...LOL

(Just using this quote as an example for the guy who said his friend isn't fibbin' -- none of this is directed at you OMalley)

Top speed is fun and all, but if you want true top speed, buy a liter bike or a ZX-14 and just de-govern it to go beyond 186. I'll say no thanks though...I much prefer to play with my bike's abilities in the twisties, not the straights...
