Here we have my J model which im hoping to make a nice ride out of over the winter.
This is how i got it in summer after a mate bought from a breakers and couldnt be bothered with it, so i took it off him.
As you can see it came to an abrupt stop and the forks, frame, engine(gear box), radiator, front discs, clip on and foot pegs were shot. So i had a busy month on ebay and this is what we came up with.
Then i bought a fairing, fitted GB moto rearsets, painted wheels black and fitted cheap ebay Front discs (tested in fast group at donington park, I am still here)..lol..
Here she is sporting a 09 tail piece, dusty has f*** and primed for painting, tail piece is nowhere near fixed on yet i just wanted to get a idea how she would look and if i was heading in the right direction.
What do you think?

looking good there mate
but just one thing ive noticed ......the rear section looks abit far away from the tank as the seat looks like it has got to be very long if you know what i mean
it maybe the camera shot of it but it looks like the rear end needs to go forward more
but yeah it looks good......nice arse as they say.....lol

Glad you like the look of it, I have some B1H headers tucked away and will get a custom pipe made up once its had the frame wheels and body work painted. Im going black frame and wheels and white bodywork.

yeah centainly will look good in black and white
i would get the rear arm changed to the later one......apparently it makes a difference (slightly longer)
but i dont know how bigga difference it makes as mine hasnt gone on the road yet......lol
and then with that arm you could mount the exhaust under the seat....would look the nuts

yeah rear end looking like a moto gp rear
as for the rear frame .....you dont need all that shit on the rear
you can cut a huge amount out of it as its going to be mainly a track bike .....
ive done it before on my old track bike i halved the lenght of the rear frame on my cbr as no one would ever use that area ......so you design the rear end with the exhaust in mind and then make everything round that .....for a seat you only need the foam padding ..... |

Hows yours doing?

yep thats the best way to do it is to weld the rear frame if you are going to chop alot of it about but with mine i didnt need to take much off .....
if you are getting you mate to weld it ....have a look when its just bare on the bike ....and see if you could shorten it and step it to give you more room for the future exhaust
check out my thread mate .....i wont put it on your thread but yeah nearly done ....until i ordered some bastard pipes for it (they are not for the bike but will make an exhaust up and will have the pipes one each side) ... and new woodcraft engine casings which are going to be flattened down and polished up
so yeah i love giving myself extra bloody work.....lol

I would just like to say before we go any further that i do not and have not worked in a body shop or painted anything other than the odd small part here and there.
My point is anyone can do it with trial, error and a bit of common sense.
