All very good advice for sure. The technique is called "trail braking", and it's as PG described, squeeze quick before turning in, load up the front suspension, and gradually trail off the brakes while increasing the throttle trough the apex. Think of it like the release of the clutch while applying the gas in a standard transmission car. One is applied, as on is released simultaneously.

As you have trailed off, in theory you'd be right around the apex, then you'd begin applying throttle.
Also, if you're new to the game, just get your braking done before you tip in... work on this stuff later and preferably at the track.

Smooth transition to gas as you release the brakes. No coasting. Being at least partially on the gas leaves the suspension more balanced and allows you to slightly adjust your speed with the throttle. If you are off the gas and coasting there is more pressure on the front of the bike and you can only adjust your speed with the brake. This puts more pressure on the front making it easier to lowside.

Agreed, best place to learn all this is the track. Take a race school just for the helpful advice and experience, even if you never intend to race. It will make you a better street rider...plus the track is safer than the road anyway |
