another question i ran out of fuel once and i didnt know if the reserve was on or off and i couldnt find it is it that black knob on the middle of the bike and what position is it so it keeps fuel in the reserve and what position is it so you use that fuel. im also currently trying to turn it and it doesnt move

A 98 ZX6R you mean?
Not sure about the gas but most sports bikes these days recommend over 95. If it's not pinging there really isn't a problem though. How long has it been running with the 91? Has it blown up yet?
I had no idea where the reserve was so I found a 98 picture and found it myself. Going from memory (So probably incorrect information) the RES is at the top, ON is to the left and PRIME is pointing south. Wrong, anyone? Anyways, you have to let it sit on prime for a few seconds before you turn it onto RES or it probably won't work. It should move freely. Has your bike sat out in the weather? The black knob you're turning could be the idle but I have no idea where that is on the 98 and it should turn freely, too.
That gangsta chick is trying to be as hardcore as me. Bitch plz. |

i run sometimes 87 when gas prices go up but most of the time 93 premium, the bike runs better with premium gas and thats what kawasaki called for to use

Hay cyraxx.
Hopefully the running out of fuel issue is just that....
you ran out on reserve, hopefully.
Some folks with 00-01s are running out of gas with
no reserve to be had.
What is happening is the "pipe" comes out the petcock
and not giving the option any more.
Maybe this link will help ya out. This is a 98. http://www.ronayers.com/fiche/400_03...0&parent=12990
(see #s 49019 and 49019A)
Im not sure that will be the problem with yours or not.
Mine has fallen out and I have no res.
Ive got to fix this soon. I ran out of gas Sat. out riding.
Luckly I was right at a station.
Notice the difference on mine and you'll see what I mean. This is an 01. http://www.ronayers.com/fiche/400_04...0&parent=12990
(see #51023)
Good luck, Bro.
Make your "TRIP" od your friend....I have too. lol

hmm...i think all the way clockwise is ON, and all the way counterclockwise is RESERVE, and in between is OFF. for me anyway.
and...you sure about that 95 octane Quarkz?...no gas station around here has above 93 (and often 91) unless it's by a racetrack. i just put the highest whatever station i stop at has..and my bike runs fine

i have an 07 zx6r and the thing has no reserve, there is a flashing yellow indicator light that goes on and the word FUEL flashes on my display.
and i use 93+ octane, always.
i figure the thing costs 10K the last thing i want to do is eff up the engine just because i didn't want to cough up another $1.20 a tank.

No wonder your petrol is so cheap, 91 octane ??
Over here standard unleaded is 95, premium is 98 and some petrol stations even do a 99 octane fuel!!!
Having said that we pay £1.029 per litre, or $1.95......perhaps I will move to the US after all!
