Tight/Stiff Clutch

My clutch is so tight/stiff, it feel like I'm using a forearm grip, u know one of those things to exercise with? Anyways, what can I do to loosen it up? I've tried all the adjustments. Is it time to replace the clutch cable? is that the problem? Thanks!

u should try adjusting the clutch cable on the left side of the handle bar, turn it in wards to loosen and out wards to tighten, that might help

I did that already, that only adjust the freeplay, and I have click and roll levers.

+1 on the lube! My first bike did that to me, it felt really stiff, after about 2 weeks of riding it the cable broke...that was an interesting ride home! What year bike do you have?

I have a 2003, and I replaced the clutch cable, it's still pretty stiff with a brand new clutch cable. Should I lube it too
I have shorty levers, and it freaking hurts squezing the levers with 2 fingers.

Ahh, maybe 2 fingers is your problem then. Out of curiosity, how long have you been riding? I wouldn't worry about lubing it unless you just want to do it for the peace of mind.

I haven't been riding that long, but I do know what I'm doing.
It's so stiff that I can't use 2 fingers to squeze it.
Also, I've compared my clutch lever to other bikes, and mine is way stiff.
My friend looked at it too, and we don't know what the problem is.

How about the spring at the end of the clutch cable? the one that is on the stator cap? near the oil filler.
Thanks

Have you checked to make sure the cable isn't bound somewhere? Sometimes just re-routing it will make a world of difference.

Lube won't drastically change the pull of the lever, it's more to keep the cable 'fresh'... but it certainly won't hurt.

I'm wondering if someone put stiffer clutch springs in it! I know barnettes sells kits for our bikes but I've never used one or ridden a bike that has the kit but it sounds like that could be one of the drawbacks to having it. Has it always done this or did it just recently start? Oh, and I wasn't trying to say you didn't know what you were doing, for me when I first started my wrist hurt like hell for about a month till I really got used to riding, then it went away on it's own.
