2013 ZX6R Issue's

Hi all,

First time poster but been on lingering on this forum for quite sometime. Some funny blokes on here gotta say. but here it goes

To all 2013 ZX6R owners do you have these issues?

1. Bike Veers right when riding with no hands, around the 60kmph (25-30mph)
2. Hard start issue in the morning. Takes 3~4 shots for the bike to actually start. i.e Press the starter, bike cranks and fires over for 1 second then dies, repeat 2 to 3 times until the final time it starts, runs rough and idles like shit until the Cold Idle kicks and and revs pick up.

I've had me Bike since 1st December, Had its fuel Mapping Updated on the 5th.
1st service (1000km) done on the 17th December, they changed the CT on it aswell as it was noisy.

Im loving this bike compared to my old '05 CBR600RR and '08 Ninja 250R but these slight issues are causing some grief.

This is a thread which i made regarding my ZX6R mini amatuer review.

I would be very disappointed if these issues were true. So much hype for the 2013

I had that cold start issue and it went away when I replaced the stock exhaust with a Graves, which could be a coincidence. My bike doesn't veer on its own at any speed.

See if you Idle is set too low. My 2012 had a prioblem with that I run about 1700-2000 rpms till it warms up and the bike calms down. like waking up a monster.

nah bike idles fine, 1300rpm. everything is fine, its the initial start up.
not to worried with the warranty period as its 2 years unlimited Kms.
soo hopefully by the time 5,000km service comes all these problems will be fixed.

just seeing if its a wide spread issue. as some others have noted that the bike veers heavily to the right when you let go.

You guys with the "veering issue"... Is the back wheel straight? Just asking.
Does this 2013 model come with a steering stabilizer/damper?

could be a possibility, though i haven't checked. im sure when they did the 1,000km service and adjusted the chain they would of checked......hopefully.

nah no steering damper, though it is available as an optional extra

mine doesn't veer to any side...

Try start and hold it with light throttle for couple of seconds. It should idle around 2k once started.

What about your remapping ?? What's the temp at when yours starting it ?? Maybe your remap is messing around with it .... not enough fuel to get it started and keep it running ?

Either way ... I'll keep an eye on these issues for sure ... if I need to I will make good use of my warranty lol . I'm gonna purchase the extra 2 year warranty on it just in case cause I will be keeping this bike for a while .

Great looking bike though man ... I'll be accepting delivery on Monday of next week ... non abs model though

I have a quick question about your other thread review .. how noisy is the Kawasaki tick on the new 636 ?

Thats a good thing, cause on previous years its been bad !

Not sure if they would've looked into that issue, or kept that part of the design, the same.

I dont know about 2013's but 1300 is low for the idle. i think the manual for the 2009-2012 says 1800 rpms idle. I may be worng but i would try that.

Also if you put a High flow Air Filter might effect the bike also.
