Ear Plugs - Yes or No?

I never rode with ear plugs when I had my previous machine, a 2012 Ninja 250. I just didnt get what all of the fuss was about as the bike topped out at about 90 mph (100mph downhill for 10 minutes). After one highway session on my '13 636 I stopped in at the drug store and picked up some earplugs. The wind noise was so loud that it started giving me headaches. I've since then picked up some of ear plugs below (from that website) and dont ride the highway without them.

Moldex Comets Reusable Ear Plugs (NRR 25) - Industrial Reusable Ear Plugs in Small Quantities (1-50 Pairs)

So, what do you guys think? Do you ride with them all the time, only highway or just not at all?

On a side note I can hear my Bluetooth headset about 10 times better now on the highway with the ear plugs in. Its quite strange, I thought it would be the other way around.

I never used ear plugs honestly. To me they are all the same.

To me i don't see any sense in purchasing 1 set for 2$ when walmart and other places have a pack of 10 reusable for the same price.

what kind of helmet do you have? I've never had an issue with wind noise on anything I've ridden but I pay good money for my helmets, since they protect a fairly important part of your body and all...

Fuck it. Some helmets are quieter than others. Doesn't bother me all that much. But if I'm riding now I usually just have headphones. But it doesn't bother me riding without anything. Sometimes it's nice.

Lol earplugs or not I think most of us bought our bikes to enjoy the feel of being outside the cage. I personally love the wind and all the sounds I dont normally enjoy in my car. Get used to it man!

Everytime from day one - and I only have "top" level brand helmets.

But then again, tinnitus is a bitch and I have lived with it for 10 years - plugs do make a difference.

I ride with headphones... BUT for long rides (500+ miles) I'd ride with ear plugs. I did LA to nor cal when I bought her, noise in my head didn't stop for hours. I went to bed with a "buzzing" head.

I've got a Shoei RF1100.

Also, its not about what you can stand in terms of noise, its ultimately about the fact that you -will- damage your hearing over time. I know its a long article but it something everyone should read.
