oil pressure light on

after i changed my engine oil(putoline) and oil filter(genuine kawasaki) on my 03' 6r,i started the engine and the oil light did'nt go out,i waited a moment turned the engine off and started it again waited a moment, gave the throttle a little twist, still the oil light stays on.there are no noises from the engine, the engine has no oil leaks, its always had regular oil changes.i guess the obvious thing is the oil pressure switch/sensor,does anyone know how to test the oil pressure switch/sensor,ive tested the wiring,i.e if i earth it the light comes on take away the earth and the light goes out.

Did you prime the filter by filling it before fitting it? Even so, after a moment or two it should still make pressure.

The only real way to test the switch is to remove it and apply pressure to it. Or remove it and fit a gauge and see if there is pressure there or not.

there is probably airlock in it. loosen the filter, start the bike, and when oil starts to come out of the loose filter, screw it back on.

i had tested the pressure switch by applying air to it, was thinking the worst,i was cleaning a bucket to drain the oil into when the phone rang, while i was indoors i thought i'd check if anyone had replied, thank the lord for ninja6zone i was on the way to removing the sump.i could have ended up stripping the engine out.
