Low rpms low torque on the '13 636

Hey guys I just broke 1200 miles on my 636, and lately I've started to feel like it's a bit lacking in low range torque from about 2 to 6 thousand rpms. The only other bikes I've ridden are 250s, so I don't quite know how it's supposed to feel. As a starting point, I know that if I gun it from idle, it gets a little light on the front end but not much more than that. It really doesn't seem like that much of a stepup from gunning a 250 at idle. What do you guys think?

Ughhhhh....

Sport bikes are not torque monsters... Unless its a 3 cylinder triumph or a cruiser...

Sport bikes are all mid to high rpm bikes.

You're not going to have power at 2K rpms PERIOD. These bikes don't have very much power until about 7K anyway.

Tee hee u so stoopid.

These bikes are designed to perform at high rpm. Nature of the beast. If you want crazy torque on the low end buy a v twin.

Yeah to add onto anybody else, 2 grand is barely above idle, idk why you'd expect to have power down there when the bike redlines at like 15 grand.

Try getting up to around 9k and gunning it. Might wanna try it in 3rd or so and hang on

Ok good, your "this noob" tones are comforting lol. My fear was that ending the break in period at 250 miles was coming back to haunt me or something.

Probably shouldn't have ended it at 250 anyways. Supposed to go till 600 says the manual I believe

3rd as in if you have only put a couple hundred miles on a 600 sport bike and you grab a ton of 1st gear throttle in the power band you're gonna be staring at the sky before you know whats going on.

3rd gear rolling at speed while in the power band

Pffft you should just cover it with duct tape, like I did. You know what they say, out of sight, out of mind

Lol. Start off in third from stop and see if you don't stall it. Lol

No he's saying ride it up to 3rd gear and get the RPMs up to about 7-8k then Rip it. Just don't slam it when the front wheel comes up.

Dude really? If you are taking off from a red light in 3rd no wonder your 100+ hp motorcycle that weighs 500 lbs feels slow

When it comes to breakin periods, I don't even know what to believe anymore. I stopped at 250, but I made sure to change the oil before I started running it harder.
