YES it really works. Stock the ZX6R makes about 98 HP to the rear wheel. Add a small piece of wire and the bike makes 1bout 104 to the rear wheel. Add a full system, race filter, PCIII and few other items and it will make about 110-112 to the rear wheel.

The latest issue of Sportrider even has a small side bar about the jumper mod and dyno results. I find it strange that Kawasaki did this neutering to begin with knowing full well it can be easily defeated not to mention the bad reviews it gets in road tests for being down on power before the mod.

Yeah I've got that issue of SR and read that article. They do mention the mod but they don't mention how to do it. No problem though since it's easy enough to find on the web. But yeah they all loved the way it handled, they loved the brakes - but they just couldn't get off the lack of power.

Yes it enables the EU spec map.

There are about A MILLION posts on line about how to do it, just do a 5 minute search and you will come up with it.

Type Kawasaki jumper mod into google and you will find it.

It'll work on any 05-08 bike, regardless of any aftermarket mods. It just unlocks the supposed "European" map that we, because of the EPA and emissions laws, are unfortunate to make do without. I run an Akra slip-on, K&N filter, and a PCIII with the jumper mod and everything is just peachy. Sport Rider dynoed another 6 HP out of their test Kawi with the jumper mod. Some other people claim as much as 11 extra ponies (though that seems a little steep). Either way, it doesn't hurt anything and can easily be reversed by removing the wire.

i read, the valve in the exhaust restricts flow at high rpm to comply with noise regulations, the jumper mod allows the valve to open fully...i cant see adding a jumper wire "unlocking" new fueling maps, why would Kawa put 2 maps in the same ECU anyway, that just adds to cost...

Because they ride motorcycles too and making it easy to unlock the map make people feel that Kawi is taking care of them.

Kind of like how the 2006 BMW M5 had no launch mode on the US model unlike is European cousin who had launch mode. But if you pushed a series/combination of buttons your US M5 would mystically go into launch mode... how cool.
