1998 ZX6E carb problem

Guys
I am having a maddening intermittent problem with my carbs. About 80% of the time when I am riding about 70mph@5600rpm I get a pronounced surge. I get the same rough engine behavior if the engine is loaded up (up hill low-moderate rpm). If I am on the hwy at 70mph (engine surging) and unload to stop at a light or intersection...the engine has died when I pull the clutch in and/or runs like crap at the idle. At any speed, if I crack the throttle open the engine reponds perfectly up to redline. WTF? Help! - Jim

I would mainly suggest a good carb teardown and cleaning and checking all the internals for wear.

2000 ZX-6R chassis with 2005 ZZR engine swap, -1/+2 sprockets and 520 kit, +4 ignition advance, stage 1 jet kit, lowered 1.5" up front (rear lowered 1.5" or stock depends on the day),

hehe, thanks for the REC man.

without more info I would be lead to believe that the pilot circuit is jacked up.

It doesn't have to be the right tool; Just one that works.

didn't mean to send that reply so quick.lol.

Can you work on the carbs yourself?

Remove the mixture screws and spray LOTS of carb cleaner(the cheap stuff from Wal-Mart) through the ports. If this helps, and it should, go back in and tear down the carbs and clean the pilot jets and everything else while your in there.

hope this helps. let me know if i can be of better assistance.
