oem usually works better for all around. with aftermarket filters some bikes lose power throughout most of the band, only to gain 1-2 hp at peak. and of course they use that 1-2hp gained in the last 1000rpm or wherever it is (that you will never really use for an extended time) as their advertised gains.

but if you're gonna get one, go with bmc

Factory for me too, right now. I want a K&N though.

one day everyone else will get away from the k&n marketing hype and see which one is simply a better filter.

Guilty as charged! I Have always used K&N for my cars and bike. What is the advantage of the bmc mate?

instead of explaining, how about i just post a link to about 5 pages of wins that bmc's filters were used in just 2008

http://www.bmcairfilters.com/VisResults.asp

you can keep going all 30 pages back to 2002

just pay attention to the superbike and motogp wins, then comapre it to how many wins in these fields that k&n lists

While I understand your premise for the BMC filters and the wins and stats, I personally feel that the information is irrelavent. BMC is a racing industry standard. Give Rossi a K&N filter and he still would win races. The bottom line is that any filter over stock would most likely have benefits but you would need a dynorun to prove where and when in the powerband. If you run alot of track days use BMC and if you ride alot of street maybe the K&N would suit better. I personally run a K&N fitler and didn't notice a damn thing. It runs like the stock filter best I can tell. I think is more of a piece of mind/urban legend thing.
Panzermeyer and Therapyrider like this.

2000 ZX-6R chassis with 2005 ZZR engine swap, -1/+2 sprockets and 520 kit, +4 ignition advance, stage 1 jet kit, lowered 1.5" up front (rear lowered 1.5" or stock depends on the day),
