I am guessing a bypass/blowoff valve on a supercharger

Does a supercharger have a blow-off valve??

I would think it was just the howl of the air intake itself, which superchargers (and for that matter, larger cold air intakes with big filters) tend to have.

On my 07 mustang, after I changed the air intake for a large conical filter, the intake sound was almost as loud as the borla exhaust, especially when you first crack the throttle open! It sounded like it was taking a huge sucking breath.

edit: also, maybe the mechanical sound of the supercharger spinning?? lol I'm not sure but these are parts that are normally under a hood, so maybe they're noisier when they're on a bike?

Well, my theory got a little backing yesterday afternoon, when Sport Rider magazine posted to their facebook page an article about bypass valves.

Super chargers can use bypasses, i mean technically a centrifugal can use a blow off but its pointless but they usually don't make that much noise lol

Don't be stupid.

Bypass valve with a supercharger, blow off valve with a turbo. That's the typical setup.

Both of my turbo Subarus had bypass valves.

Interesting really... Someone will post a topic about wanting to put a SC or TC on their bike and everyone says you're wasting your money don't do it, you don't need it, it's stupid, buy a liter bike ect ect... But once there's a possibility that the manufacturer might do it, everyone is all giddy like a kid in a candy store. What a turn of events.

I'm with drbyers and tdh here, I'll pass.

Well…. I would never suggest not putting a supercharger on. Superchargers are wonderful because the power delivery characteristics are lineiar. They make power from idel to redline.

Turbos are peaky and have all kinds of lag and spool up issues when not PERFECTLY designed. Every manufacturer has tried turbos and everyone of them have abandoned them because the issues where not worth the results.

Superchargers are just really difficult to package on motorcycles. The blower drive is very hard to work out so it is serviceable and compact.

I don't understand how they can produce something like this while knowing many people will inevitably die on it...

Yes, yes, it's all the operator's fault and risk, but people buy this bike to go fast (both noobs and experienced riders). The faster you go and more often you go fast, in uncontrolled environment, you increase the risk of severe injury or death.

It's very cool idea, however, my conscience wouldn't allow me to mass produce a supercharged death machine.

Oh, and if Kawi is in business to sell bikes why create a bike that increases the risk of killing your customers? How about stick to quality and service on the ZX6 and 10 lines and keep the customers coming back for new models.

If they are trying to 1 up the busa and take market share from it, this won't make a difference. People buy busas so they can have a "busa". End of story.. and my rant.
