Oh. I knew he was there for sure. I just wasnt willing to give up the line :p. Racing isnt always that close in the EX brackets, but it can be from time to time. John is one of the people I am ok with racing that close with, the guy is absolutely surgical in his precision so I trust him completely not to take me out.

Great pic Mike! Thanks for the great deal on the filter. Sunday was definitely the better of the two days. I stayed up there most of the day Saturday to support my buddy "Jansmar" and enjoyed watching y'all turn some laps. Great looking setup you've got there. Seen another bike in your pit garage that had grass stains all over. Hope the pilot faired well.

And here is the pic without the watermark. I love my photographer but his approval process takes a while to go through some times.

Nice meeting you, even just for a moment. I am sorry you caught me right as I was about to go out on track.

Yes, that bike belonged to my teammate Bill Coolahan who had a slight incident in the rain. Scooped up a bit of grass but was otherwise unharmed. We cleaned the bike up and got him back out for races later that weekend.

Not for this race. Despite this shot it was actually a pretty boring race. I normally just run away with 2nd place. The guy who usually takes first is on a built 190hp Ducati 1098R. I am a decent rider but there is no way I can overcome a 70hp deficit :p.

The guy on the outside of me (John) normally takes 3rd by about 30 seconds behind me but because I was running this for points and absolutely needed to finish, I was a good 3 seconds per lap slower than I normally run. Made for a pretty boring video.

Here is a vid from earlier in the day though...again, I had to take it easy because I needed to finish that race without incident which made me a lot more timid than I like to ride. I missed so many passing opportunities here it makes me cry. Also I got screwed on the start by being stuck on the inside :/

Anyway, at least it was more interesting than this race =)

That would be because Pirelli actually has edge grip =)

The best part is you don't even look bothered. At first I thought it was just the camera angle until you pointed out his helmet. Way to keep you cool out there!
:eek:mg
At that level of racing, contact happens from time to time. You need to be comfortable with it and trust the people you race with. Obviously, John and I trust each other quite a bit =)

Just looked up NEXX helmets..... SO MUCH WANT!
They really make a killer helmet. I am super happy with them. It is so light I thought they shipped me an empty box when I got my first one.

Those walls are absolutely terrifying
Eh, there is airfence in any actual impact zone. A rider would have to do something catastrophically wrong to hit an actual wall somewhere.

So here are two more shots taken from the same turn that day...

Ordinarily, they wouldn't. This was from the Formula 40 bracket, which is a nice way of saying "Old guys on big bikes" as you have to be 40 or over to enter. 600cc I4 and up run in this bracket so I am definitely underpowered compared to most of the field which is running 1000cc bikes, but since I am finishing 2nd most of the time and took 3rd overall for the season after missing one round out of 7...you can see that horsepower isnt the only answer =)

I actually race in a lot of the 1000cc brackets with my 600. Mostly because it is fun and it really makes me work since I have to be very clever with my passing.
