Well today was a bitter sweet type of day. I left the house and drove 2 1/2 hours to Morgantown, WV to meet the winning bidder (ebay) to drop off my 2004 CBR600RR. He loved the bike, we exchanged money and paperwork, then I was off. I then drove another 1 1/2 hours to Cumberland, MD to meet the seller of my next track bike, an 09 ZX6R with a few mods. I arrived a couple of hours early so I played on the phone and tried to keep myself awake.

The place that I was waiting had a sign on the door "Nobody wearing hoods or ski masks allowed". That gave me an idea of the neighborhood I was in. My other clue was that the houses across the street, that people lived in, had "Keep Out" signs on the front windows. In my opinion, if you need to have signs such as that on your house it may be time to move. :O

Anyway, the seller of the bike arrived, I checked it out, took a short ride, checked it out again, then handed over an envelope full of money and he handed me a title. He will be mailing me a couple of parts but other than that everything is final.

I'll try to get some better photos tomorrow once I remove some / all of the stickers. For now these will have to do.

Anyone know what this wire is for? I'm thinking it is so the bike will start with the kickstand down when the clutch is pulled in but I'm not positive.

It is geared 15/45, so -1, +2. Perfect!

Anyone have a link to where I can find the tool that fits this?

Good lord that chain, solid looking bike though. I picked up the 2010 zx6r today. She needs a lot of work, but will also be for track duty only.

27mm deep well will get that front sprocket nut off with a lot of pressure. The other step is 32mm but the 27 should be fine.

Congrats, but I hope its been maintained better then that chain looks.

Thanks. The bike has been setting since June or July, I'm hoping most of the rust is from getting wet and setting there. I hope.....

Here is a photo from "before" it got wet.

Personally I'd just ditch the chain.

I like the GBRacing covers:thumbup I have a full set on my 07, and two of their covers on my '12.

I always think it looks funny when people remove the ignition and then have the hole just sitting there on the triple! On my 07 Kawasaki Racing Team Canada machined the upper triple to remove it and save weight and it looks 100% cleaner, there's lots of cool stuff on my ex Canadian Superbike:devious

So time to start my to do list.

  • Replace tires. I already have them, just need to mount them come Spring. Already have so $0
  • Replace clutch lever. CRG is being sent to me by previous owner. Received.
  • Replace one of the clip ons. Previous owner replaced one but not the other. He is sending me the other new one. Already replaced bars with Vortex. Received
  • Quick shifter. Ordered an Annitori
  • New Chain
  • Cut and install new decals. Cut most already.
  • New Grips - Renthal Grey Received
  • Figure out what I'm going to do about the bubbled paint on the gas tank.
  • Eliminate rear brake fluid reservoir. Parts ordered
  • Manual Cam Chain Tensioner - possibly, it's a little loud from that area right now. Is this a tough job?
  • Check valves - possibly
  • Oil Change
  • Brake Fluid Change
  • Antifreeze - this weekend then back to water wetter for Spring. Changed to Prestone.
  • Springs and fork / shock oil. On it's way back from Markbilt. Springs were correct for me. Will do my own oil change.
  • Rear braided line. It isn't necessary since I rarely use my rear brake but they sure are pretty.
  • Yellow number plates with black "616".

Other than the Springs, Chain, and quick shifter it shouldn't be that expensive. It has been around 4,000 miles since the valves have been checked, not sure if I need to do that now or just wait until after next season. Cash is a bit tight right now since I just bought the bike so I may hold off.
