I just recieved all of my vortex items in the mail and I got some 51mm clip ons with them. Looking forward to seeing how they feel. Ive heard great reviews on them for track riding which was my main reason of getting them. If I find time soon, Ill throw them on and let you know.

life begins at 16000rpm

What's the reason you're looking at aftermarket clip-ons?

Exactly what I am wondering as well.

There are really only 2 benefits to aftermarket clip ons which specifically cater to track riding. You can replace the tube quickly and cheaply if you go down without removing the top triple. You can get longer than stock length to accommodate a larger throttle (like the MotionPro V1 for example) or other odds and ends.

If you ride on the street I would actually not recommend these as they are hollow and come with cheap plastic bar ends which means they vibrate quite a bit more than the OEM ones.

That being said, if you want to emulate the stock angle, you want the 7 degree variety. The other ones that most manufactures offer are 0 degree.

^ Eb hit it right on the head. Stick with OEM unless it is a track bike.

The only reason I run woodcrafts is because if I crash and need a replacement, I can walk the 100' over to Eric Wood and get one :-p

its not going to be a track bike but ive been looking at a couple of mods that i want to do like the driven bar end mirrors, which don't work with the bike because of the tube. they say that they can bolt on to standard size bars directly so i was thinking of getting the clipons for that reason so i can extend the bars out a little bit more and if she's ever dropped i could easily replace them... if the make a lot of vibration i probably wont go for it unless some one knows of a way to get rid of the vibration... thanks for the comments so far

there's also the fact that i like the look of them...

There is a company, cant think of the name offhand, but they make really nice heavy bar ends that are made to accept a bar end mirror. If those work with a hollow tube style clip on, you could grab some up which would take care of some of the vibration and also allow you to mount the bar end mirrors you are after.
