1st track day on '14 zx6r (1st bike) w/ vid and pics

Hello every I just wanted to share some pictures and video of my first track day at Thunder Hill in CA.

OMFG!!!!! I will never ride fast in the canyons ever again! The track is 10000000000000000000000000000000000 times better than the street! I ride my 636 like a fucking Harley on the street now lol

No cops, no cars, no dumb ass pedestrians ...it was heaven! The best $135 I spent!

Flying down the front straight at +145mph then breaking into turn 1 WOW what a fuckkking ruuush!!!! I have done a lot of crazy dumb shit in my life but nothing tops riding a sport bike at the track.

Also I knee drag my 1st time at the track on my first bike! You can hear me scream like a lttle bitch in the video when I knee dragged for the 1st time.

I didn't crash or die lol Definitely the biggest orgasm of my life! Don't tell my GF

I think I found a new expensive hobby! The track was a very humbling experience. I still have A LOT to learn but I learned a shit ton about my bike and what it is capable of and what my noob self is capable of too.

Remember this is my 1st bike and 1st track day so go easy on me!!

ALSO for you ninja fans...I out ran my buddy on his 2015 Ducati 899 on the front straight!!! He is a more experienced rider than me. I didn't believe it until he told me himself that he couldn't keep up with me on the straight. Also I went back and watched the gopro vid and he was right!! I was proud of the lil ninja!

GO TEAM GREEN!

Enjoy the video!

Enjoy the pics!

Nice. What tires are you running? I've been using the stock B-stone s20's at the track and wasn't to impressed by them.

I wasn't a fan of those tires either. I had them slip out on me on the street once and I did really trust them.

However, these Dunlop Q3s are the shiiit!!! I love these tires. They warm up fast (1.5 laps) and stick like glue and they last a good while on the street.

I am on my 3 set already and I have had no complaints.

I felt like I was not even getting close to their breaking point this last track day.

I kept leaning the bike over and the bike just stuck to the pavement.

My buddy said the Pirelli supercorsa sp tires have more grip than the Q3s, but they are $$$.

For my 1st, 2nd, 3rd 4th and maybe 5th track day the Q3s are morrrrrrrre than enough tire for me.

Plus they relatively cheap.

Nice. Good an you for going to the track.

And yes, street riding loses it's luster the very first lap around the track.

Some minor comments (Just tell me to piss off if you want--just like helping people with this because pictures really visualize it)

Don't worry about trying to get your knee down right now. Knee down is just a byproduct of proper riding position.

Try shifting your ass over a little more to the inside. drop your inside elbow. point your chest into the apex, and your outer nipple onto the inside of the tank.

Perfect example: myself.

Here is me when I first started riding. Notice how my bottom half is cocked out but you can see me fighting to keep my upper half upright. Almost like my chest is a gyro with a pivot point at my hips.

And here is me some years later riding Advanced group at Barber Motorsports Park.

And a side view from Carolina MP

Notice the head placement. Where the mirrors would be

And the best thing you can do is to follow an instructor. watch. mimic. repeat.

Have a good one

nice pictures! to bad that panigale is stealing the show in the 4th one

I dont want to beat a dead horse, but ditto on what Drums said. Were there any coaches out and about? its always a good idea to ask if they can follow you for a few laps to give feedback.

I use these two pics alot 1. because its the only track day ive ever done and 2. because the improvement from first to last session is so evident with a little help from the coaches, same turn, camera just moved:

first session

last session

Nice pictures!!!!!

HAHAHAH! Don't trip beat that horse half pass dead! lol

Yes there were coaches out there but I was having the time of my life I forgot to ask for help!

My buddy on that 899 I passed on the straight (which I could not believe) but holly crap those Pirelli supercorsa sp tires are amazing! He got me in the turns plus he was a more experienced rider.

But in that picture I was experimenting with passing on the outside lane.....did not go to well. That race line is gold!

Yeah they truly are my second bike and I have ridden new r6,cbr, gsxr, by far my favorite of the bunch. Kinda corny but you were so stoked about your bike in the vids that I had to go ride one and ended up buying it lol.

Yeah I watched and pretty impressive for a relatively new rider.

I still need leathers and some extra funds. Just left the military now I am a broke college kid lol.
