It is not so much that I think people will actively say 'don't buy that because it has cheap packaging', more that I worry that the overall impression of my products will be viewed as cheap or inferior because it doesn't come in a $30 box. Make sense?
If it makes you feel any better Alpinestars uses clear plastic zipper bags (like the ones used for toiletries lol) for their $240 GP-Pro gloves and anything less than that. It's only with the GP-Techs that they step it up a notch and package them in a box

Given a choice most would prefer to save the money. Decent packaging does give a view of a quality product before you even touch it. I can understand how you're having a tough time with this decision.
I'ld probably prefer the nicer packaging (but I'ld like to be ignorant to the fact that I'm paying more for the packaging)

I think the packaging is more important for in person sales than for online sales.

I would definitely agree with this and would like to add to it. While products may seem cheap because of the packaging for in person sales, thats where friendly staff (or yourself) come into play. Ive shopped from local vendors and from just talking to them and being able to see/hold the finished product and see how nice it was, thats what I based my purchase on. Not just how it looked on the table. I guess i might just be different though and would prefer cheap shortcuts on packaging rather than the product.

Thank you all again for the feedback. It looks like I will continue to use a modified version of the shown packaging (card stock will be printed to represent the updated levers) and I will put a blurb on my website about the packaging choice.
