Ok I have a zx6r 2000 I would like to know what are the good and bad point about the bike and VS the other newer bike
I have been reading what other ppl say about the bikes on here saying the 05-06 is better then the 07-08 and the 09 is better then all of them. I know she an older one but she is good and fast. I been next to an 07 doing 60mph got on the gas and I’ve been going faster then the 07 winning well go to 150mph then go back down to 60 or 50 then back on it. My friend doesn’t know what to say he about it and he is a better rider then too.
P.S.I would like to know what kind of problems a 2000 bike is know to have.

I've had my 2000 model for 18 months now and no problems at all with. I thinks its an awesome bike, unlike more modern kit its roomier, which for me means its easier to do distance on it and its still good at the twisties, but not quite as sharp as lighter more extreme modern stuff. Personally I have no desire to trade in for something more modern.

Personal preference really. I wouldn't buy an 07/08 or an 09 simply because they're ugly. They're engines are also weak compared to the 636's. The 07/08's are also obese pigs. Who told you the 09 is better than all of them? Just because it's newer certainly doesn't mean it's better. I find my boyfriends 01 plenty enough power but our A1P is unbelieveable. I reckon it's got more power than mine! Just remember in a few more years the 05/06's will be just as dated as the 00/02's and they have had FAR more troubles with the tranny and warranty claims than the 00/02 ever had. Kawi's engines seem to be going downhill IMO. You won't have any problems with an 00/02 as long as you look after her.

I have to admit I like 03/04 models, but then again that's just personal preference.

I've had an 02, 04 and 06 636...
02 (similar to your 00 model) was great - could ride it around all day no worries and pillion friendly
04 was greater - fast, violent and rock hard. If you plan on having kids soon, think twice about this one.
06 is the greatest - smooth as butter, Slipper clutch, great handling and the prettiest of them all! |

I have a 00 and love it - one of the guys at work has a 05 636, he envies me for comfort and style. Doesn't want to swap though . I have had pretty much no trouble with it in the last 18 months - every mechanic I talk to quotes Quartz - Look after her and she will give you no trouble. In the chase for performance the newer bikes seem to be more fragile and problematic. I reckon I could just about lift my bike off its side with the mirrors, try that on a 07.
I believe the power delivery of the 00-01 is a fair bit more even than the newer bikes also. It still has plenty of pace to scare the crap out of you.
All this makes upgrade decisions quite hard - If I was going to upgrade today it would prob be to a 05-06 636 but the 00 is a good all rounder I reckon.

dont know to much about the 00-02... i have an 08 and i have to say the bike is an absolute blast. i have put over 6000 hard miles on my baby and have had no real problems... just some minor. i would love to get a 05-06 for the bigger motor but i am very content on my 08 for now. i guess it really comes down to preference imo... every year and model is going to have problems; just like us there is no such thing as a perfect running bike. its all about how you treat her mate. i see my 08 staying in my life for a VERY long time. happy riding my friend and yes 00-02 are beautiful bikes too.

my 98 is nice and comfy and heavier than the newer, sure she has 68k on the clock now but it works for me and has not had a single prob in the 2 1/2 years i have had her.. Think it all comes down to what you can afford and like really for me

Man, it really just depends on what you like. I'm new to all this, but I have an 07 and love it. Some of that could be cause I'm new to all of this. I guess a lot of it depends on what your going to be doing with the bike. The 06 is an awesome bike, and that 636 motor is fantastic. Part of my reason for picking up and 07 was because I found them cheaper than the 06 models. Just get what you like man, IMO there all fast as hell and fun to ride. Just my 2 cents!!

I've had my 01 for about 3 years, and love it. Wouldn't trade it for anything. It is very comfortable for my wife as well when she rides with me. Hope this helps.
