HID kit Group Buy

If any of you guys are interested, I can setup a group buy for an HID kit with a very reputable vendor (FSANE PERFORMANCE: http://store.f-sane.com). He has group buys on Kawiforums.com and is willing to set one up for us in ninja6zone. I've purchased his kits previously thru kawiforums and it performed flawlessly for over 2 years. I just replaced the old kit with his newer version with slim ballasts and that too is performing great.

Let me know if you guys are interested and we can set up a group buy and if enough people join, he will set up our own discount on top of the kawiforum coupon.

While I agree that true HID systems must involve the correct optics (i.e. projectors, lenses, shields, etc), some of the things that lead to really really obviously poor kits inclue:

1. poorly rebased bulbs that position the light source outside the oem designed focus point.

2. Bad choice of bulb color temperature....remember, the higher the temperature (i.e. 8000K, 10,000K) the lower the lumens. Almost all OEM manufacturers use 4300K which is closer to the light color of the sun, but the lense make them look pure white. Most people try to compensate for that by going with 6000K and up bulbs that have a progressively blueish-purpulish color.

Here are some picture of my original kit from FSANE using 6000K bulbs. With the new kit, I'm going with 4300K bulb and leaving the high beam with original H7 bulb. Visually, the 4300K bulb looks brighter than the 6000K bulb, but has a slightly less hint of blue.

OK so here is my communication with Ilya (owner of FSANE Performance):

"We are working once again on a projector solution for those who are interested. As for the regular Group Buys, the price would be $120 shipped, within the 48 states, Hawaii is and additional cost, and Canada is $20 for shipping. You can post that price, its guaranteed if there are 10 people.

As for projectors, we are waiting to get our demo set to make sure we can test them properly and create a write up. We may possibly have a few housings here on site ready to ship. So we would basically have an exchange program where customers would send in their headlights either to have moded or pay full price up front and get reimbursed when their housing arrives.

I am confident that this is the right projector and one that we’ve been wanting to get our hands on for a while. By the way, the projectors should be Bi-Xenon, so this would work for the guys who have been eager to convert to both low and both high beams.

Thanks,

Well, there are several schools of thought on this...generally people ride mostly during daytime and they are interested in the most visibility and thus prefer to get both the high and low beam. Unfortunately, without a projector unit or a shield such as in the low beam, coupled with the optics of the lense, the high beam is extremely bright and anooying to oncoming traffic at night.

Secondly, because of the nature of HID bulbs and the need for the initial warm up (few seconds) of the Xenon gas, it prevents you from quickly flicking your high beam at cagers that are about to get into your path, or flash others to pass. HID ballast do not like being turned on and off repeatedly in a short period of time either.

My suggestion is to just do the low beam....it provides plenty of light and it has a very good cut off as you can see from my picture. keep the high beam oem and just change it to a quality bulb such as Sylvania or Osram, as others have mentioned.

As I mentioned earlier, the high beam HID may not be for every rider, especially those that ride at night. I can say from experience that for the last 2 years I have been riding with both the low and high beam on during the day and all cagers are able to see me much better than those lantern oem bulbs that came with the bike. In fact, I had the bike back to oem for a week before the slim ballasts arrived and I had more crazies make left turns in front of me than I ever remember. I have not had any police bother me for the lights either and believe me the cops in SOCal generally crack down on a lot of illegal lighting systems, but I think they totally understand why bikers need brighter lights.

BTW, I do not gain anything from setting up this group buy...I am in no way affiliated with FSANE Performance in any shape or form and I'm only doing this because I think it is a great mod and this forum needs more group buys for fellow ZX6R riders like Kawiforums does. So far here are the memebers that maybe interested:

05636RIDER
ZXWARRIOR
Jdthieme
Neal6894
Quarkz
JLMason
AMN
ZX666R
ZX636

I will ask Ilya if he would do international shipping.

Here is a pic during daytime with high beam (not exactly head on)

OK for all the forum members that are interested in this group buy, please forward all your requests for the kit to Ilya at info@f-sane.com. Please have ninja6zone.com HID group buy in the subject of the email.

for more info on the kit check out: http://f-sane.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=8_17_4&products_id=62

Again, according to Ilya:"the price would be $120 shipped, within the 48 states, Hawaii is and additional cost, and Canada is $20 for shipping. You can post that price, its guaranteed if there are 10 people."

Currently they are working on a projector kit that will complement this kit, and it should be coming out shortly...

Note that the online installation guide (http://f-sane.com/guide/05zx6rhid.pdf) shows the older ballasts and not the newer slim ballasts, but the install is exactly the same.

please forward all your questions for the kit to Ilya at info@f-sane.com. Please have ninja6zone.com HID group buy in the subject of the email. He would like to answer all your questions, but he is not a forum member here at ninja6 zone and I really don't have the time to go back and foth with emails. You may also reach him in KAWIFORUMS.COM....his user name is FSANE IL.
