i am also interested in this. I recently sold my m4 street slayer slip on because it was too loud for me.

I did read that the pre-muffler is the big noise canceler and that holding me back from trying out the link pipe and stock slip on setup.

I have a street slayer with stage 1 and 2 silencers and a yosh slip on. Just ordered a link pipe. When it comes in I will throw it on with stock exhaust for you. Then report back on all of them and the difference combinations and sounds.

So far the stage 2 silencer was quiet at idle and cruising speeds but loud when getting on it or deceleration. But wasnt bad, nice race sound.

The yosh slip on is almost perfect, just slightly louder then stock or might even be the same. Haven't decided which one I like better yet.

The word is that the stage 2 silencer robs about 10hp which is why i avoided it when i have the m4 SS exhaust.

Dyno number from the video below(not mine)..
M4GP No baffle: 113hp
M4GP Stage 1 baffle (comes with m4gp): 111hp
M4GP Stage 2 baffle (purchased out of sympathy towards the neighbours): 100hp

This is m4 gp, but i'd assume the number are similar or perhaps even show more of a loss for the street slayer.

Definitely a power loss felt with it on but it felt the same with the stage 1 to me but louder. No baffle is where it felt the fastest.

That's interesting. Didn't feel like 10hp but I guess it could be.

I have a stock exhaust and a link pipe (eliminating the bulky resonance chamber) and I notice no change in sound or volume.

Do you know how much louder a m4 gp is than a m4 street slayer?

That move should have reduced weight on the bike by some number of pounds, made working around the swingarm easier.... no increase in sound? for me, that would be a win-win.

"There's this adage that we have 2 ears and one mouth so we should listen twice as much as we talk. Unfortunately with the Internet people have taken this old adage and turned it around. They have two eyes and 10 fingers so they think they need to post 5 times as much as they read. And since they have 10 fingers and one brain, they only have to think 10% of the time! "

Yep. On the stock bike you need to remove the resonance chamber to remove the rear shock - now shock service is quick and easy!

I heard one on another bike and it seemed much louder then the Street slayer in the canyons but I don't think he had a baffle on.

wow very interesting. I might have to look into getting a link pipe then. I wonder why they throw that boat anchor on there if it doesn't do much with sound.

I think it makes aftermarket mufflers louder just not stock. My link pipe has been shipped so hopefully soon I can test it.

Our local racetrack has sound limits and runs two sound meters (one monitored by the track and one by the local authorities); changing from stock to link pipe had no impact on my measured sound emissions. In fact, I have one of the quietest bikes out there!
