Clicking when pressing brakes?

Hey everyone,

So I just changed the front take pads on my 2007 zx6r, and now when I press front brakes quickly, it makes a bit of clicking noise, especially when I let go of the brake... any ideas? Thanks!
Also, is it maybe just normal?

Check to see if you have the anti rattle clips placed correctly?

"There's this adage that we have 2 ears and one mouth so we should listen twice as much as we talk. Unfortunately with the Internet people have taken this old adage and turned it around. They have two eyes and 10 fingers so they think they need to post 5 times as much as they read. And since they have 10 fingers and one brain, they only have to think 10% of the time! "

Coming from the master cylinder? Is it the brake switch releasing? Does it do it when bikes not in motion? The brake switch is spring loaded and makes a click on my bike. I have aftermarket master though, can't remember if it did that with OEM master cylinder.

It only does it when the bike is moving

The brake lever is supposed to click, there is a tab switch near the master cylinder that clicks when you pull on the lever to activate the brake light

Ok, that's what I was thinking too... I think because I just changed the brakes I'm hypersensitive to noises and stuff because I'm nervous i might've done something wrong.... now I know the lever clicks, but this clicking seems to be coming from around the brakes itself, and mostly when I let go of the lever

My brakes click too. Normal unless you installed something wrong, but most likely normal.

But only when the bikes in motion? You don't reproduce it when the bike is still and pull on the brake lever right?

You should not be getting clicking down from the brakepads/rotor area. A SLIGHT, metal-sounding rubbing sound might be acceptable (semi-floating rotors) but not an actual "click" or at least what I imagine in my mind what a click is.

If I were you I would throw the bike on a front stand and see if you can more accurately pinpoint the click. Even post us a video so we can hear it. Consider taking your brake calipers off and turning the wheel and see if it still clicks (that would pinpoint if its the brakes vs something else like the wheel bearings)

And if you don't have a front stand, I would consider pulling everything off, inspect for any abnormal areas of wear, and re-installing everything. Can't be more than 15-30 minutes of your time for peace in mind.

the clicking could be the brake pad floating up and down slightly causing it to tap the cradle it sits in,

This is exactly what it is.

Update: I took it to the mechanic and they said it's normal, and they showed it to me on another bike... thanks again boys!
