I finally got around to finishing up the little area for my riding gear and race bike. It stays indoors during the winter because there is no antifreeze in it.

Don't think I'd be allowed to bring my bikes indoors (family would flash something epic) but fair play for yours to live indoors

Well there are a couple of reasons why this works for me:

1) I have been riding motorcycles for over 30 years. When my wife and I were dating and started to get serious I brought her into my garage and explained that my bikes are #1 and always will be. If she could live with being second with the understanding that no living being would be above her then we could continue dating. Thankfully, she agreed :p

2) My wife now rides and some of that gear in the pictures is hers. The door on the right leads to our garage and the door on the left leads into the kitchen so this made a perfect mud room and place to store riding gear.

3) My kids ride dirt and some of that gear is theirs. As you can see, we are a Moto family.

4) When we bought this house we each had a list of 'must haves'. Hers was a dream kitchen (which I am almost done building) and mine was an indoor place for gear and an indoor place to work (I have a full ride-in basement where I can wrench in the winter).

It is all about setting expectations :p

Before my daughter was born my bike stayed in her room. Everyone thought I was nuts but I didn't care. After the kid came, a shed was built and into the cold it went... I now have my ZX6R, R1 side by side in the shed. My YZ250, RoadStar and SV650 are homeless in the yard. They look so sad covered up with snow on top of their covers. I refuse to invest in those bikes because I do not have the heart to see quality parts getting battered by the elements from them being hobos...
