Butterfly Exhaust Valve Issue (How to fix?)

So I have had my 2005 zx6r for almost 2 years now. I bought it used from a dealership which is an as is sale. The first year I didn't have any real issues but the second season I took it out it started to die on me randomly. I'd just be cruising along just fine and all the sudden the bike would just turn off. Later in the season last year it would do it more and more frequently. I took it to a shop and had them look at it which included 3 different 1 hour test rides to try and get it to turn off on them so they could help me diagnose the problem only to tell me they can't find any issues with the bike. They said the only code they pulled from it was a "butterfly exhaust valve code". Which they seemed to really just brush off and not even talk about really. I'm assuming this is due to the aftermarket yoshimura pipe it had installed before I purchased it. To my knowledge isn't there supposed to be a part that comes with that kit that solves this issue? Any help is appreciated as I'm pretty new to diagnosing issues on sports bikes.

Your issue probably is the ECU overheating.
Usual on the '05. If you are lucky and it has chances surviving, you have to insulate it from excess heat coming from the exhaust.

If you want to fix your exhaust butterfly FI error, you could connect one of these instead of your stock exhaust servo motor.
NEW Servo Motor Eliminator V3 !!!!!

But the exhaust butterfly has nothing to do with the bike shutting down.

Where exactly do I need to insulate? What/where is the ECU.

The Engine Control Unit, is the brains of the FI and pretty much everything else on the bike.

On your '05, it sits under the seat, in close proximity to the exhaust pipe as it goes under the tail section to the muffler under the seat.

Lousy air flow there. The electronics in the brick don't like excess heat.

Once they start to fry, they cannot 'heal' themselves..... it will only get worse with more time and temp.

Replace the ECU, and use a unit from an '06. When you install that, make sure it's further away from the exhaust pipe than the OEM set up.

They have two eyes and 10 fingers so they think they need to post 5 times as much as they read. And since they have 10 fingers and one brain, they only have to think 10% of the time! "
