Awesome page of very true info. Their are crazys out on the road that don't have any respect for us bikers and may even be annoyed by us or jealous of our sweet rides. Idk what it is. But that is definitely good info and a good reminder of how we should handle and get out of a bad situation before it gets any worse. Thanks for the awesome link . I'm new by the way. It's nice to meet y'all. I'm from Texas. I just started a thread of my own. Anyways. Thanks
Kinda have to be careful not to completely ignore bc they sometimes get even more upset. Just a glance to show them you have payed attention to their "concern" then breifly break away. Also i wouldnt go into a bro opionion that they are jealous of our "sweet rides" lol i think its more of a superiority complex and they see us as iresponsible kids. Therefore its instantly our fault. Just imo
Some cagers don't respect anyone including them selves. There pissed, have no idea why.
Dealing with them is a nightmare, IMO acknowledge them and turn ASAP. Ride around the block then chive on KNOWING where the police stations are.
Only place these nuts don't normally seem to keep going crazy. One did, I was calm he was pissed who do you think the cops listened to. Heck they had a hard time trying to understand him.
Anyway, in a car a small idiot will win versus a big guy on a bike.
I had someone yelling at me the other day. Just look at them (through your dark lenses so they can't see your eyes) and do the slow Boba Fett nod. They won't know if you're agreeing with them or not. Then they stop yelling.
We seem to be having a lot of issues in California. Most of you probably know about Zach Buob, a Navy member killed in a road rage incident.
Although its a very small percentage, its very common to come across cagers that absolutely HATE lane splitters. Despite lane splitting being legal here in California and it actually being a crime to block a lane splitting motorcycle, you get people like this asshole:
Despite it all, no matter how right you are and no matter how aggravating the person is, you on the motorcycle will ALWAYS lose a confrontation that turns physical. And WHAT can be worth losing your life over.
For example this video (shitty commentary video but action within first 10 seconds):
I'm very expressive when I'm driving in a car lol, so I have a lot of trouble on the bike not putting my hand up at dumb shit and shaking my head etc. Consciously trying to stop that before I piss off some crazy fuck, but I've been struggling with it for a long time so I'm not very hopeful lol.
I'm the same way. I'm so glad that people on the road have no way of hearing what I say when I'm driving around by myself. For some reason when I'm driving, the stuff that goes through my mind always ends up in spoken words out loud...no idea why lol
Those videos really piss me off. I have gotten so many people acting stupid with my go pro. We got to stay alert out there. And drive defensively. The best offense is defense. Y'all be safe out there man
I only use a tank bag in town... Slows me down too much when traveling long distance with petrol fill ups.
On the carrying handle - proximal to rider - I attach a fishing line parallel to handle. And to this line I attach several [≈ 12-20] small fishing weights - I prefer the conical lead (Pb) style; to which I attach using a small length of clear monofilament and a hook clip which clips on to the fishing line that's next to the tank bag handle. These just stay attached until needed.
When I encounter cagers that tail gate, I unclip a few and randomly drop a few. The cone shape causes them to bounce a bit more randomly than the ball style, which I like; 2-4 usually do the the trick! :devious
The tail gater starts to think nuts & bolts are falling your bike. The key to this tactic is to just let them drop close to your sides. Be stealthy - no big arm movements - you do not want to be seenthrowing the weights. Be inconspicuous. They back way off, or go around in very short order.:coocoo
I havent had much an issue yet. I was sandwiched between two people with no room to escape and beat dents in some guys door just to let him know i was there. Luckily he didnt get too pissed and actually pulled to the side of the road where i was loosing my lunch and appologised. Didnt even want to turn damages into insurance. Though i dont think insurance would cover it.
Do not play games and mess with cars while you are riding a motorcycle. It is not worth the risk. People are unpredictable. Just move along. You have the advantage with maneuverability and speed. Use it and get the F out.
A lot of my friends ride open carry for just this reason. It settles down a lot of folks when they see the gun on your hip. Attempted murder is less enticing when the victim might be able to fight back.
